Frequently Asked Questions
Where will my shoot take place?
I primarily hold sessions in and around Johnson county Kansas but also have semi-regular dates for booking in the Denver, Colorado area as well. Sessions either take place outdoors at a scenic location or in a studio (studio rental fees are additional and subject to availability).
What type of sessions do you offer?
I exclusively shoot the following content: family, maternity, family-centered newborn (these are not typical newborn sessions where we wrap and pose baby; they focus on baby with the family around).
Outdoor sessions take place an hour prior to sunset to achieve that dreamy, golden-hour lighting. I do not offer session times outside of golden hour for outdoor sessions.
Studio sessions are scheduled mid-morning through mid-afternoon to allow for the best natural light to come through.
I have limited openings throughout the year for graduating seniors, children’s milestones, weddings, branding sessions and boudoir. Contact me for more information.
How would you describe your style?
Definitely a mix of lifestyle and storytelling. During the session, I shoot for emotion…to draw the viewer of my images in to see the story behind the pictures. Your images will be artful, full of connection and anything but ordinary.
In post-production, my editing style is a couple of notches under fine art and a few spots above light retouches. Images I create typically have a warm and dreamy type of edit with bold contrast as well as have a smoothness to the overall picture.
Do you offer help with styling and wardrobe?
Yes! Outfit selections play one of the most important roles in your images. All sessions I offer are styled in some way by me. I can either style you and your family completely from my client closet, based on your own personal preferences OR I can point you in the right direction for what to wear for your shoot.
I provide a client closet filled with women’s, girl’s, boy’s, men's and gender neutral infant and toddler clothing that is free of charge, exclusively for all full sessions I offer. I strongly encourage all clients to utilize this service…plus it saves you the hassle of finding outfits for everyone.
If you’d prefer to wear your own clothing, that’s great too! Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive a style guide on what to look for in your wardrobe selections and what to avoid. I want clients to be comfortable in their clothing and feel like themselves but also want to ensure we are optimizing the full beauty of your images and making them as timeless as possible.
When will my gallery be finished?
Turnaround time is 30 days from your session date.
Do you offer prints?
I do! You’ll have the option to purchase prints, cards, canvas and more through your gallery. Every session also comes standard with a print release allowing you to print at the quality lab of your choice (print release may not be used for photo labs such as Walmart). I definitely encourage all clients to ALWAYS print your pictures.
What happens if my Sunset session is scheduled and there is inclement weather?
In the event of rain or other turbulent weather that will prohibit us from shooting outdoors, I will contact you as soon as possible to reschedule our session OR we can move your shoot indoors to a studio. Overcast is no problem though and often makes for some amazing shots!
May I have the unedited or unused images from my session?
As much as I wish I could say yes, unfortunately I am not able to give every single image taken during a session. Although I can understand wanting all of your photographs, raw images are not a representation of my work therefore I will never offer or send them to clients. Only the images given with your gallery will be available and I greatly appreciate your understanding with this.
